Make Your Jeans Last Longer
For the “first ” washing of the denim, especially with dark wash jeans, always wash in cold water. We are going to “set” the dye. Remember to keep your jeans looking new, only wash your jeans every three to four wearings.
Use one cup of distilled white vinegar, pour in the washing machine and let it distribute well in the water before placing the jeans in the washer. NO LAUNDRY SOAP for the first washing. Then I alternate using vinegar or laundry soap to clean my jeans, after I have “set” the color in my denim after the first washing. Use only a small amount of laundry soap with denim.
Turn your jeans inside out before placing in the washing machine (you can wash more than one pair at a time, but the dye lots must be similar). Always turn inside out to preserve the “face” of the denim.
Jeans will release the largest amount of dye in the first wash cycle. The vinegar will set the dye and prevent it from transferring onto other clothing items and onto your skin.
After the jeans are finished washing, the first time and every time, take out of the machine and re-shape the jeans. Make sure that you pull the legs down to give you a little more length in the hem. Make sure to zip up the zipper and lay flat on a drying rack to dry. NEVER put jeans in the dryer, the heat breaks down the stretch fiber (Lycra content) and the finish on the denim. The jeans will be a little stiff after you grab them off the drying rack. Loosen them up by rubbing them with your hands.

Basically it’s just blending COCONUT OIL and OLIVE OIL to form a wonderful “mash” of sorts that you can use on pretty much anywhere on your body in need of a little tender, loving moisture! I especially liked it on my lips and my face.
Some might be hesitant using something so “oily” on their face…but trust me on this…coconut oil and olive oil are BOTH great for skin!
The fatty acids in COCONUT OIL have been shown to possess antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, and in many cases actually improve many skin conditions such as acne and rosacea. Coconut oil also contains free-radical-fightingantioxidants which help prevent premature aging and degenerative diseases.
OLIVE OIL is a natural, hypoallergenic way to moisturize skin, and also has contains strong antioxidants, like Vitamins A and E. These help repair and renew skin that has been damaged from overexposure to sun, air pollution, and other modern-day environmental hazards – like cigarette smoke and fast food. These antioxidants also stimulate cells and return skin to a firmer, smoother, and healthier state.

Mix together until it’s a nice, smooth consistency.Store in the refrigerator for a “hard” lotion or at room temperature for a soft lotion. Either way, once the mixture hits your skin it will liquify and absorb. (Coconut oil will liquify at 76 degrees Fahrenheit).
I used approximately 3 Tablespoons of coconut oil and combined it with approximately 1 Tablespoon of olive oil.
I then put it in a recycled hard lotion bar container I had saved. At first I put it in the refrigerator, but it was pretty hard when it came out, so now I just store it at room temp.

Hair Mask
Improve your hair’s strength and shine while protecting your hair from split ends and breakage with a gelatin hair mask.
Blend 1 tbsp. unflavored gelatin, 1 cup water, and 1 tsp. cider vinegar. Massage the gel-like mixture through shampooed hair, leave it in for 5 minutes, then rinse.
Super Nail Strength Soak
Put 1/2 oz. (1/2 packet) of plain gelatin in a small mixing bowl, and pour 1/2 cup boiling water over the gelatin. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon or a disposable stirrer. Soak nails for 10 minutes. Then rinse well.
Pour any unused gelatin mixture into a resealable container and it will keep in the fridge for about 2 months. Next time you want to pamper your nails, warm it in the microwave for a couple seconds. It will be melted quickly and be ready to use!
Exfoliating Cleanser
Add 1/2 teaspoon of cornmeal to 1/2 teaspoon of powdered gelatin to form a mixture. Apply to wet face and gently massage into the skin for exfoliation. After few minutes, rinse face with warm water.
Face Mask
Add 1/4 cup of powdered gelatin to 1/2 cup hot water. Stir thoroughly. To this liquid add 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Apply mixture to face with cotton ball. After ten to fifteen minutes, rinse off with warm water.
Oatmeal Honey Mask
A homemade oatmeal mask with soothing properties. Add 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal to 1/4 cup of liquid gelatin and 1/2 teaspoon of honey. Mix ingredients together and apply to face. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Shampoo Additive
For strengthening hair, increase the protein content of shampoo with gelatin!
Gelatin is a great way to instantly thicken hair. It coats each strand and gives hair volume after the first use. Pour one package of unflavored gelatin into your normal shampoo. Shake well and use as often as you wash hair. The gelatin shampoo will add texture to thin hair.

Dissolve half a teaspoon of gelatin in 1 cup warm water. Add more gelatin as needed to reach the desired consistency.

Using just a thin layer, apply the milk of magnesia all over the face with a cotton ball. You will find the consistency greatly resembles calamine lotion, meaning that just a small amount goes an impressively long way.
After your face is completely dried and you have applied the milk of magnesia to your skin, allow it to dry.
Apply your regular makeup on top of it if you are planning on wearing cosmetics.
Pressed powder is not recommended for oily skin, as it does not give your face a chance to breathe. Try a loose powder on top of the milk of magnesia and foundation instead, as your skin will feel smoother and dryer than what is otherwise typical for your skin type.

- MAKE YOUR OWN FACE CLEANSING PADS FOR OILY SKIN
- Cotton rounds (I bought a package for 98 cents)
A container with a tight-fitting lid (I repurposed and old Stridex-type jar)
2 cups distilled water (or you can boil tap water for 10 minutes, and allow to cool)
1 Tablespoon mild shampoo or wash
1 Tablespoon rubbing alcohol
1 Tablespoon white distilled vinegar
Pour all ingredients into a container and shake to combine.
Place enough cotton rounds into a container with a tight-fitting lid to fill it.
Pour cleansing solution over the pads until saturated. Save any remaining cleanser for later use.
Rubbing alcohol is commonly used as a disinfectant to soothe skin. It is also considered to be helpful in healing acne because it helps dry the skin and cleans off acne-causing bacteria. People with sensitive skin should avoid using rubbing alcohol!
